The zoo, the waxworks museum, the cinema, the theatre and the circus all have their origins in the amusement fairs of the past. Down through the ages people were attracted to fairgrounds for all sorts of reasons. It represented a dazzling, exotic, mysterious and fairytale-like fantasy world that was larger than life.
Bergen-op-Zoom has long been the place where many amusement fair operators and circus families were based in the off-season. This was then the obvious place to site the largest exhibition of fairground attractions in the Benelux countries. The Markiezenhof palace itself can entice you into a fantasy world of sequined splendour and gleaming glitter. There is an anatomical cabinet to behold, a cinematograph, a mediaeval marketplace and a complete miniature amusement fair with many different sideshows and fairground attractions as well as moving attractions, light and music. The exhibition shows that amusement can be very educational. The exhibition of fairground attractions is a thrilling experience for both young and old. play the game http://www.kermiswereld.net/
